So, the last few months have been a crazy ride….back in October, we left LifeChurch.tv for “something new.” Emphasis on SOMETHING. We really didn’t know what and we certainly didn’t know where. Tempe? Kansas City? New York? Another city? Or, maybe, Phoenix? We did have some choices, good choices. But, a good choice wasn’t enough; we wanted to hear God clearly. So, we kept knocking, waiting and listening. Then, the sale of our house was final and much earlier than we thought. So, we had to find a place to live, fast. We drove around the east valley of Phoenix, through Tempe, and, almost as a casual “let’s just go see what there is” moment, we head to downtown Phoenix. The first time we drove through what is now “our” neighborhood, something was different. It wasn’t like we KNEW this was the place but we definitely saw the potential to make this home. The need seemed clear and it “felt” right. So we went for it even though we had more questions than answers. To cut right to it, we are so glad we stepped out. In the past three months, we’ve experienced God in so many ways. We’ve met too many people to count and we’ve learned more than I can write about here. God has been so gracious to us…and it is just 3 months in!
The most important thing is this: What I couldn’t do 3 months ago, I can do now. I can ask you to be a part of day|twelve with confidence and conviction. Not confidence in what will happen (no one knows that but God), but with confidence in our God who is calling us to be a part of His plan for the people of Phoenix. Not confidence in exactly what we will do, but confidence in what must be done. If you are reading this, I can say this to you with confidence: if you are a follower of Christ, God is calling you to give your life away to something much bigger than yourself. Does that mean walking out your faith as part of our day|twelve community? Only you can answer that. But, if not here, somewhere. Give your life to serving with a group of people who understand that the way they live, work and play should be done to glorify and worship God. All of life is God’s and we should live like it. If you’ve decided God is calling you here, that is the challenge. Time is short. There is work to be done and God is calling us to it.
Can’t wait to gather with the day|twelve community this Sunday at our house. Hope to see you there.
The Hoyt’s are “confident” that God will bring Day 12 to the top with many blessings and we are happy to be a part of it!
thanks Jess…great to have you and Mike there last night. great things are happening and more are to come.
