Of all the questions I get these days from people interested in our church plant, the most common is: “what do you need?” Money? Hmm…that’s always nice. : ) A building? Sure. You have one you’d like to donate? Equipment? Yes, a projector, sound board, lighting, portable staging, signage, chairs, etc etc would all work fine. But, if I could answer this question with one word it would be this: “missionaries.” More than anything else we need people who feel called to be a part of the mission of the church in the downtown Phoenix corridor. After all, this movement will not be built on the back of a building, sound board or cushioned chairs, it will be built by God using people sacrificing their own comfort and convenience to be a part.
Is that you? I would challenge you to pray about your answer before you give your “yes” or “no.” God will not call everyone to be a part but I know He will call some and some of those are people reading this blog entry. Gina and I are convinced that God will bring what and who is needed at the perfect time. We know there will be many “yeses” and many “no’s” and we decided going into this that we will trust God regardless of who and where the no’s and yeses come from. In reality there is only one “no” or “yes” for any of us to be concerned with and that is our own. Is God calling you and your family to be a part of this movement on the ground? If He is, there will likely be questions you cannot answer and things you cannot figure out now. That is how God works. Don’t worry about how it will work just get involved and be a part. Answers come in the midst of moving with God…always have, always will. A “yes” with a bunch of conditions attached doesn’t leave a lot of room for God to work. A “yes” with movement, invites God to be involved. God is a God of movement. He is in the business of advancing and taking new ground.
For those who are already a part of this movement either through prayer, financial giving, and/or on-the-ground involvement, we are blessed to have you as part of this team. If you are not yet involved but feel that God is calling you to be a part, we would be humbled to work with you as we seek to bring Light into a city that desperately needs it.
On mission, in the city…
Beautiful post Brian ….and so right on!
Great post Brian…not that it surprises me that you see what’s important, but nice to emphasize how important the people are compared to everything else.
Going to be amazing what happens in the city…
